“2009 Fort Bend fest will showcase our rich diversity” -Nazy Khadivian

The 3rd Annual International Festival of Fort Bend (IF-FB)will take place October 17, 2009 at the prestigious Stafford Center.  Nazy Khadivian, the 2009 IF-FB president, spoke with Houston-based USAfrica, USAfricaonline.com and CLASSmagazine’s Publisher Chido Nwangwu on the special event and what families and businesses will expect this year. USAfrica will cover the event, extensively, and provide pictorial features on its mega-site www.PhotoWorks.TV

1. What are the major highlights of this year’s event?

Nazy: The major highlights this year will be our adding Brides of The World Costume Show and a Children’s Native Costume Show. In addition in the children’s area, we will have activities sponsored by the Rockets Basketball organization, as well as many  others.

2. What should Fort Bend and non-FortBend residents expect to gain by attending the event?

Everyone will get to experience the rich diversity of Fort Bend, and how cities in the Fort Bend county work together for the advancement of their residents, businesses and the economy.

3. What should FortBend residents do to make it a better event?

Fort Bend residents are already doing some things towards making it better. Residents own the event. We expect more by volunteering, by getting their businesses, schools and faith based organizations involved, and of course by attending.

4. What is your regular business/job; and how long have you been in the county?

I have been in the country for 34 years. I am a small business owner. I do event organizing and I have a hair salon in Stafford, Texas.

5. How will the IFB 2009 impact the county?

The businesses who are involved with the festival will showcase and advertise their products. The people living in Fort Bend County will get to experience each other’s culture and religion, which we hope will bring a better understanding of all peoples and promote an atmosphere of unity within the community.
