USAfrica: An international electronic Live Call-in townhall event involving key leaders and influential voices across the Abia State communities in the U.S., Canada and north America continues to draw high marks for the articulation of a comprehensive, credible plan by the APGA candidate for governor of the State Dr. Alex Otti.
On the hot issue of the problems facing the Abia youth, he noted that his solution and agenda
will be based on the points that “Gone are the days when people are ashamed to introduce themselves as farmers. Agriculture is in vogue now” “Unemployment and crime rate will drastically reduce once there’s a good environment for businesses to thrive. We will revive all our dilapidated industries by creating an enabling environment for investors to do their businesses. We will encourage youth involvement in Agriculture through incentives and provision of equipment for mechanized farming.”
Dr. Otti, the immediate past Group Managing Director of the Diamond Bank, called in from Nigeria when the session started 10pm (EST) on February 1, 2015, said he grew up under financial poverty but education changed everything.
“Education will be free but compulsory.Teachers will be sponsored for refresher courses to enhance their skills and qualities”, he said shortly after he was introduced by the event facilitator Dr. Chido Nwangwu of USAfrica. “We will renovate the existing schools and build new ones where necessary. Civil servants will be paid as at when due” — he promised
The townhall event which lasted for almost 3 hours with key members of the Abia State National Association, Abia First, APGA party, friends, volunteers and well-wishers attracted almost 1,000 participant.
On the politics of governing Abia State, 2015 APGA Abia governorship candidate stated that “I’ll do away with god-fatherism as Governor. It has been a factor in the problems we’ve faced here —“ an indirect swipe at the PDP incumbent Governor T.A Orji and his handpicked 2015 candidate. Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, and prior to the duo, Governor Orji Uzo Kalu who handpicked T.A. — who later fell out with Kalu.
On business, he promised that “Our markets including Ariaria will be totally reconstructed with modern facilities installed to attain International standard
On the critical issue of healthcare, he said ”We will attract doctors of Abia origin all around the world to come and contribute to the development of our health sector…. I will renovate and equip our hospitals with priority attention to three Specialist hospitals, one in each senatorial zone.”
The opening prayer was said by Mazi Emmanuel Odinakachi, welcome remarks from Dr. Chris Ike, Q&A segment by Prince Chris Enweremadu and closing remarks by Leon Ibeka and Chief Oluchi Ogwo.
