USAfrica: Republican Romney deserved boos from Blacks at NAACP convention.

Romney had a golden opportunity to make a credible argument for Blacks to support him. But because he doesn’t have experienced Blacks in his inner circle, he thoroughly embarrassed himself and deserved to be roundly booed. For Romney to speak before a Black audience and not talk about the Black entrepreneur is like going to church and not mentioning God. This is what happens when you don’t have the right people around you, people who understand communications, messaging and the nuances of the audience being addressed.

Egypt’s puzzling predicament — a presidential trilemma. By Adel Iskandar

Today, Egypt is facing an even more puzzling predicament — a presidential trilemma. With the preliminary and unofficial results from the election showing the Muslim Brotherhood’s Mohamed Morsy and Mubarak’s last prime minister, Ahmed Shafiq, heading toward a runoff, many Egyptians are gripped with a deep-seated sense of sunken disbelief, anxiety, panic, dejection and demoralization. Shafiq is now effectively viewed as the military’s strongman, an apologist for Mubarak’s regime, and an unrelenting bulwark of the “stability” camp. Revolutionaries see him as a Darth Vader character who they hold at least indirectly responsible for the surreal murderous attack of 2 February 2011 on Tahrir, known unflatteringly as the “Battle of the Camel.”

Abuja bombing, our diaspora and ways to handle the crisis in Nigeria.

No reasonable man or woman can justify his or her reasons for killing fellow citizens in the name of a cause which is being remedied -- in this case, the Niger Delta issues being aggressively pursued by their radical group MEND. The MEND claimed responsibility for the bombings. But I must state that the continued killing of innocent citizens of Nigeria will not solve the Niger Delta issues or any other problem rather it will perpetuate the problem and continue tarnishing our nation’s image worldwide. For some group of Nigerians to continue carrying out bombing campaigns in the name of the Niger Delta (where our President Goodluck Jonathan also hails from) is backward and retrogresses the core interests of the Niger Delta.
