Justice Yusuf Halilu of the Nigerian Federal Capital Territory High Court has ruled on an application challenging the continued detention of the Chief Executive Officer of Capital Oil and Gas Industries Ltd, Ifeanyi Ubah, by the Department of State Service, DSS.
The Court ordered the DSS, almost an hour ago, to release Ubah “unconditionally” within 48 hours.
The Nigerian government through its security agency, the DSS, alleged that Ubah committed an action of economic sabotage punishable by death; arguing that he illegally diverted about 84 million litres of Premium Motor Spirit (petrol/fuel), that was kept in his corporation’s tank farm by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC.
Ubah’s lawyer is disputing the DSS-NNPC charges.
