The Securities and Exchange Commission has launched the regulatory incubation program for fintech firms operating or aspiring to operate in the Nigerian Capital Market, weeks after announcing the registration of five fintech companies.
This was stated in a circular the commission released.
The circular stated that the portal would be accessible until May 26, 2023, and invited both registered capital market businesses and unregistered fintech innovators who needed regulation to apply.
The decision to launch a site, according to the SEC, was made in response to a 2021 circular in which the agency announced the impending launch of the SEC Regulatory Incubation program.
“Please refer to the Securities and Exchange Commission circular of June 2021 announcing its Regulatory Incubation programme for fintech firms operating or seeking to operate in the Nigerian capital market.
“This is to inform you that the portal for submitting applications is now ready to receive applications from Cohort 001/23, from 28/04/2023 to 26/05/2023. Cohorts will be announced at specific times.” The Commission said.
