22 killed, dozens wounded in “mass casualty” shootings in multiple locations in Lewiston, about 45 minutes north of Portland, on Wednesday evening.
At least, 60 persons were injured when a man shot at several locations, including a bowling alley in Maine.
A “person of interest” in connection with the shootings studied engineering at the University of Maine, a white male is Robert Card
He was a student there from 2001 to 2004, though it was not immediately clear whether he graduated, University of Maine spokesperson Eric Gordon told NBC News early Thursday.
Gordon said he did not have access overnight to any other student information about Card.

The White House said Wednesday evening, “The President has been briefed on what’s known so far about the mass shooting in Lewiston, Maine and will continue to receive updates.”
Maine’s Governor Janet Mills posted on X where she appealed to “all people in the area to follow the direction of State and local enforcement. I will continue to monitor the situation and remain in close contact with public safety officials.”
Officials have urged residents in Lewiston and Auburn to shelter in place
