The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Atiku Abubakar’s request to present new evidence regarding President Bola Tinubu’s Chicago State University (CSU) diploma was denied by the Supreme Court.
Caleb Westberg, the CSU Registrar, was asked to give a deposition, but it was denied and declared inadmissible due to the Supreme Court’s lack of jurisdiction after the 180-day window for deciding election petitions had passed.
At the Presidential Election Tribunal Court (PEPC) on Thursday (October 26, 2023), during the hearing of the appeals filed against Bola Tinubu’s victory, Justice Inyang Okoro gave the verdict.
The judge pointed out that the Supreme Court cannot accept new evidence on appeal because the Court of Appeal’s trial deadline had passed.
