Renowned Nigerian actress Doris Simeon has expressed her nostalgia for Nigerian street foods since her relocation to the United States in 2018.
Simeon, known for her roles in Nollywood movies, revealed that she misses the taste of popular Nigerian dishes such as roasted yam, roasted corn, ewa agoyin, potatoes, and more.
In an interview, she shared, “The things I miss most are the food they sell on the streets… I miss my family and friends. I miss being on movie sets. Sometimes when I see some behind-the-scenes clips, especially how they eat together, I miss it all.”
Aside from her longing for street food, Simeon also disclosed personal challenges she has faced in America. She expressed sorrow over the loss of a sibling and regretted not being able to meet her sibling’s last child, who will be turning five years old in July.
In a recent conversation with actor Kunle Afod, Doris opened up about her decision to relocate to America six years ago, stating that it was a personal choice influenced by her child and the child’s father residing in the United States.
Simeon’s revelation highlights the emotional and cultural attachments individuals often experience when living abroad, particularly when it comes to cherished aspects of their homeland, such as food and family.
