VLADIVOSTOK, May 1 (Xinhua) – The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations reported on Wednesday that seventeen country houses were engulfed in flames in Russia’s Far East, with no casualties reported.
The blaze, which occurred in Ulan-Ude city, the capital of the Republic of Buryatia, razed an area spanning 10,000 square meters. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, though the damage to property was significant.
According to the ministry, twelve of the affected houses were unoccupied at the time of the fire.
Alexey Tsydenov, the Head of Buryatia, indicated that a damaged power line may have sparked the inferno. Strong winds exacerbated the situation, with the fire spreading at speeds of up to 28 meters per second in certain areas.
Emergency responders worked swiftly to contain the blaze, successfully extinguishing it before further damage could occur. Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing.
The incident highlights the importance of prompt and coordinated responses to mitigate the impact of natural disasters and safeguard communities against potential hazards.
