U.S. President Donald Trump has confirmed on his social media platform, Truth Social, that Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was killed on Saturday, February 28, 2026, after the U.S. and Israel launched a pre-dawn assault on the country he (Khamenei) ruled with an iron grip for 36 years.
“This is not only Justice for the people of Iran, but for all Great Americans, and those people from many Countries throughout the World, that have been killed or mutilated by Khamenei and his gang of bloodthirsty THUGS,” Trump stated.
Khamenei led the Islamic Republic of Iran since 1989.
Trump added: “The people that make all the decisions, most of them are gone.”
Meanwhile, as Iranians and their neighbors seek shelter for safety, Trump called on them to take action to topple the current rulers of Iran. He described Khamenei, as “one of the most evil people in history.”
The attacks were unleashed as part of a massive joint military operation between the U.S. and Israel.
