INTERNATIONAL AWARDS/HONORS: U.S Congresswoman Sheila Jackson-Lee, USAfrica’s Chido Nwangwu, Dr. Ogbonnaya to be honored by Hope Waddell alumni July 4 weekend
Special to USAfricaonline.com: The July 2011 north America alumni annual convention of the Hope Waddell Training Institution, the
first secondary school established in Eastern Nigeria and the third in the entire Nigeria since1895 in Calabar, will honor the influential U.S Congresswoman Sheila Jackson-Lee, USAfrica multimedia networks’ Founder Dr. Chido Nwangwu and a distinguished graduate of the school Dr. Kalu Ogbonnaya.
The alumni association President Bassey Ekanem points to the reasons for picking the honorees as: “in keeping with the association’s intention to assist our alma mater maintain its legacy of excellence, we plan to honor men and women who we consider have demonstrated exceptional leadership and made significant contributions to mankind.”
In respecting the proposed honor from one of Africa’s foremost schools which also produced outstanding leaders such as Rt. Hon. The awards gala nite will hold at 8pm prompt on Saturday July 2, 2011 at Houston’s Sienna Hall.
Hope Waddell Old Students’ Association – North America (HWOSA-NA) was formally organized in 2004. Membership in the association is open to all former students of Hope Waddell Training Institution, Calabar, Nigeria residing in North
America and other persons who share the common goals and objectives of the association.
Hope Waddell began with offering students a comprehensive education that included courses in carpentry, printing, building technology, secretarial studies, electrical technology, marine engineering and nautical studies.
