Senate President Godswill Akpabio Issues Warning on Fraudulent Online Loan Scheme
The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, has cautioned the public regarding a fraudulent online loan application circulating on various social media platforms. This alert was conveyed through a press statement released by Hon Eseme Eyibo, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity and the official spokesperson to the Senate President.
According to Eyibo, the advertisement promoting the loan scheme did not originate from the Office of the Senate President. Instead, it is the product of fraudsters and unscrupulous individuals seeking to exploit unsuspecting Nigerians. The misleading offer, titled “N200,000 Palliative Loan By the Senate,” falsely associates Senator Akpabio with the scheme, featuring his image alongside the coat of arms and the logo of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
The statement underscores that the Office of the Senate President has no affiliation with the entity known as Templeshort or its Facebook account. It clarifies that Senator Akpabio is not involved in any loan program, palliative arrangement, or collaboration with the CBN or any financial institution regarding loan facilities.
The public is strongly advised to exercise caution and remain vigilant against such fraudulent activities perpetrated by criminal elements. Hon Eyibo urges individuals to disregard these scams and promptly report any suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities.
In essence, the statement from the Senate President’s spokesperson emphasizes that the advertised “N200,000 Palliative Loan By the Senate” is a fraudulent scheme and urges the public to reject similar deceptive offers purportedly sponsored online by the Senate. It asserts that neither the Office of the Senate President nor Senator Godswill Akpabio has authorized or endorsed any such loan or palliative program.
