President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed eight new permanent secretaries to the federal civil service to address existing and anticipated vacancies across various states and geopolitical zones. This marks the second round of such appointments under his administration, following a similar exercise in June 2024.
The announcement was made on Monday through a statement issued by Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
According to the statement, the appointments were made based on recommendations from the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation after a thorough selection process aimed at identifying the most qualified candidates.
The new appointees are from diverse states, representing the federal character principle. They include:
• Onwusoro Maduka Ihemelandu (Abia State)
• Ndiomu Ebiogeh Philip (Bayelsa State)
• Anuma Ogbonnaya Nlia (Ebonyi State)
• Ogbodo Chinasa Nnam (Enugu State)
• Kalba Danjuma Usman (Gombe State)
• Usman Salihu Aminu (Kebbi State)
• Oyekunle Patience Nwakuso (Rivers State)
• Nadungu Gagare (Kaduna State)
President Tinubu expressed confidence in the appointees, urging them to exhibit unwavering commitment, diligence, and innovation in carrying out their responsibilities. This latest round builds on the appointments made in June 2024, when eight permanent secretaries were named from Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Bauchi, Jigawa, Ondo, Zamfara, South-East, and South-South regions. Those appointees, who were sworn in by the president in July 2024, included:
