U.S. President Donald Trump has announced plans to push for an official investigation into Vice President Kamala Harris’s 2024 presidential campaign, claiming her team improperly paid celebrities for endorsements during her failed bid for the White House.
“Candidates aren’t allowed to pay for ENDORSEMENTS, which is what Kamala did, under the guise of paying for entertainment,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.
“I am going to call for a major investigation into this matter.”
Throughout her campaign, Harris leaned heavily on support from prominent entertainment figures, including Beyoncé and Oprah Winfrey, to boost visibility and public appeal.
Winfrey publicly defended a $1 million payment her production company received from the Harris campaign, stating the money covered logistical and production expenses related to her hosting duties for a campaign event featuring the vice president. Meanwhile, the Harris campaign has denied allegations that it paid pop icon Beyoncé $10 million to appear at a rally.
According to official campaign finance disclosures, the Harris team reported only one endorsement-related expense—a $75 payment to an environmental advocacy group.
Trump, who won the 2024 election by a comfortable margin, continued his criticism of Harris and her celebrity supporters on Monday. He targeted Beyoncé, Winfrey, and legendary musician Bruce Springsteen, accusing the Harris campaign of compensating Springsteen for a rally performance in Georgia shortly before the election.
“How much did Kamala Harris pay Bruce Springsteen for his poor performance during her campaign for president?” he posted.
“Why did he accept that money if he is such a fan of hers?”
Trump has historically received minimal support from mainstream entertainers, instead aligning himself with a narrower group of prominent figures known for their outspoken and often provocative views. One such supporter is podcast host Joe Rogan, who has maintained a large following among younger and more conservative-leaning audiences.
The former president also renewed his feud with Springsteen, which reignited last week after the musician criticized the current U.S. administration during a performance in the United Kingdom, calling it “corrupt, incompetent and treasonous.”
In response, Trump, now 78, dismissed the singer’s influence, stating the performer known as “the Boss” is “Highly Overrated.”
Springsteen has long been a vocal critic of Trump and was among the celebrities who publicly supported Harris after she replaced President Joe Biden on the Democratic ticket, following Biden’s decision to withdraw from the 2024 race.
