Two teenagers lost their lives, and five others were injured in a shooting in Johannesburg’s Westbury area on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, in what police believe to be a gang-related attack.
According to Gauteng Police spokesperson Brenda Muridili, no arrests have been made yet. Preliminary investigations suggest that the victims, aged between 13 and 19, were targeted by members of a rival gang.
Police reports indicate that the group of teenagers was approached by four suspects on foot, three of whom were armed. “Without any warning, the suspects opened fire and then fled the scene,” authorities said.
Emergency responders quickly transported the wounded victims to a nearby hospital for urgent medical treatment.
The Provincial Anti-Gang Unit has taken charge of the investigation, working alongside SAPS Forensic Services and District Crime Intelligence to track down the attackers and uncover the motive behind the shooting.
Police have urged anyone with information to come forward to assist in the ongoing investigation.
