USAfriccaonline.com: The government of Nigeria will drag 6 persons to Court to face the charges of “treasonable acts” and money laundering, for, allegedly conspiring to execute a military coup.
According to the charge sheet, the 6 defendants “conspired with one another to levy war against the State to overawe” the Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu..
Among those held by the government are: retired Major-General Mohammed Ibrahim Gana, retired Navy Captain Victor Erasmus Ochegobia, Police Inspector Ahmed Ibrahim, an electrician working at the Presidential Villa Zekeri Umoru, a civilian Bukar Kashim Goni, and an Islamic cleric Abdulkadir Sani.
The charges were filed by the Attorney General of Nigeria, at the Federal High Court in Abuja where they are expected to appear before Justice Joyce Abdulmalik on Wednesday, April 22, 2026
The Nigerian government has also stated that the effort for the coup plot was led by Col, Mohammed Alhassan Ma’aji.
The alleged coup was not implemented or executed.
