The Ekiti State Police Command has confirmed the rescue of victims abducted during an assault on the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in Eda-Oniyo on April 28. The announcement was made via a statement from the police public relations officer, SP Sunday Abutu.
The successful operation resulted from extensive intelligence and coordinated efforts involving the Nigeria Police Force, military personnel, other security agencies, the Amotekun Corps, local hunters, and support from the Ekiti State Government.
Following their release, the victims were transported to a hospital for medical evaluation and treatment to ensure their health and well-being.
Commissioner of Police, CP Falade Adegoroye, expressed his appreciation for the dedication and professionalism displayed by all involved in the operation. He also acknowledged the continuous support from the Ekiti government, led by Governor Biodun Oyebanji, which played a critical role in the operation’s success. Additionally, Adegoroye thanked local residents for their vigilance and timely tips to security agencies.
The police commissioner emphasized that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the individuals responsible for the abductions and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property in the region.
