The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is set to host the 7th Africa Emerging Markets Forum from July 29 to 30, 2026, in Abuja. This event, organized in collaboration with the Emerging Markets Forum (EMF) and the Centre for the Study of the Economies of Africa (CSEA), will focus on the theme, “Building Resilience Amidst Geoeconomic Uncertainties.”
Key discussions will revolve around effective policy choices that can enhance the resilience of African economies, promote critical reforms, and deepen regional trade integration amid growing global economic challenges.
The forum will feature notable leaders including Mr. Olayemi Cardoso, Governor of CBN, and Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), who will engage in a fireside chat aimed at addressing ways to maintain macroeconomic stability while attracting investment and fostering inclusive growth.
Additionally, keynote addresses will be delivered by Mr. Taiwo Oyedele, Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, and Dr. Kingsley Udeh, Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation. These discussions will emphasize the critical role of aligning fiscal, monetary, and innovation policies for sustainable development.
The forum aims to encourage open dialogue on strategic issues pertinent to emerging markets, identifying actionable policies tailored to the unique circumstances of various countries. It will gather senior policymakers, central bankers, ministers, development partners, and economists from Africa and beyond to explore a wide range of pressing topics, including macroeconomic stability, regional integration, and technology transfer.
Distinguished attendees will also include Indermit Gill, Chief Economist at the World Bank Group, and Harinder Kohli, Chief Executive of the Emerging Markets Forum, among others, all contributing to discussions on economic resilience and sustainable growth in an uncertain global landscape.
