The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that a total of 1,906,390 registered voters in Osun State have successfully collected their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) in preparation for the upcoming governorship election.
According to Mohammed Haruna, INEC National Commissioner and Chairman of Information and Voter Education, this number constitutes 81.5% of the 2,339,233 registered voters in the state. Haruna further noted that 432,843 voters, or 18.5%, have not yet retrieved their PVCs.
He mentioned that the uncollected cards are currently secured with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), in line with INEC’s standard procedures. Additionally, Haruna informed that around 6,101 voters requested and received printed downloadable copies of their PVCs. The commission has made available on its website the list of PVC collection figures for each polling unit.
Haruna assured political parties, civil society organizations, and the media of INEC’s commitment to conducting a credible and transparent election this Saturday.
