Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has extended heartfelt congratulations to former military president Ibrahim Babangida on the occasion of his 85th birthday. In a statement released on August 17, Otti, through his spokesman Njoku Ukoha, recognized Babangida’s pivotal role in the creation of Abia State, which occurred on August 27, 1991.
Otti expressed gratitude for Babangida’s leadership, stating, “On behalf of the Government and good people of Abia State, I heartily congratulate President Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida on attaining this remarkable age of 85.” He acknowledged that the establishment of Abia State was a historic decision that has significantly contributed to the nation’s growth.
During a weekly Executive Council Meeting, the Abia State Executive Council joined in honoring Babangida, referring to him as the ‘Father of Abia State’. The members expressed their appreciation for his contributions and conveyed prayers for his continued health and wisdom.
