Obidient Connect Texas is set to hold a significant rally in Houston on October 10, 2026, with the purpose of galvanizing support among Nigerians in the diaspora. Following the establishment of its leadership structure, the event will take place at George Bush Park, strategically timed to build excitement and engagement ahead of Nigeria’s presidential election scheduled for January 16, 2027.
Professor Sam Osemene, leader of Obidient Connect Texas, emphasized the importance of the rally as a means to translate diaspora enthusiasm into organized action. He stated, “The successful inauguration of our leadership has provided a strong foundation. We are now focused on scaling our efforts.”
The rally, which begins at noon, aims to encourage Nigerians to register on ObidientConnect.com, enhance grassroots organizing, and promote lawful contributions to strengthen electoral infrastructure in Nigeria.
Obidient Connect has been developed by the Big Tent Coalition, led by Professor Pat Utomi, to facilitate citizen-led organization and ensure transparency in electoral processes. Osemene underlined the urgency of their goal: protecting and counting the will of the people in the upcoming elections.
During the Houston event, attendees can expect speeches from notable figures such as Peter Obi, the National Democratic Congress presidential candidate, and Professor Utomi, who will provide insights into the platform’s offerings and guidance on lawful contributions.
Osemene cautioned against informal fundraising methods, urging participants to channel donations through official channels to uphold transparency and accountability. He expressed that each registration and lawful contribution enhances the ability of ordinary citizens to engage in the electoral process effectively.
“We invite all Obidients and well-meaning Nigerians in Texas to participate in this key event,” Osemene added. “Together, we can help ensure that the people’s will is recognized in 2027.”
