Nigerian businessman and commentator Isaac Fayose has voiced strong criticism against Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike regarding the extensive size of his convoy. This remark comes during a time of economic difficulties for many Nigerians.
In a video circulating online, Fayose highlighted the contradiction between the government’s appeal for citizens to manage scarce resources and the lavish movements of its officials. He noted, “The federal government of Nigeria is telling you and I to manage for now because the economy is down. But look at the minister’s convoy.”
Fayose raised concerns about the fuel consumption required for Wike’s numerous vehicles, suggesting that such resources might be better allocated to critical areas like infrastructure and healthcare. He questioned the necessity of a large convoy for a minister and former governor, likening Wike’s security arrangements to those of some of Africa’s wealthiest individuals.
