Former Governor of Osun State Olagunsoye Oyinlola has declared that his endorsement of President Bola Tinubu for the upcoming 2027 presidential election has come to an end. Oyinlola initially supported Tinubu’s bid for a second term on July 20, 2025, as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State.
During a recent interview with Channels Television, Oyinlola was asked if he continued to back his previous endorsement. He responded simply, saying, “It has expired.” He elaborated on the reasons for the initial endorsement, suggesting it was a tactical decision influenced by the political climate in Osun at the time.
Oyinlola pointed out various issues facing the state, including disputes over local government funds and office occupants, which he believes warrant presidential intervention. He noted that while his endorsement aimed to navigate these challenges, it ultimately failed to bring about any meaningful results.
Following his withdrawal of support for Tinubu, Oyinlola has chosen to endorse Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, who is now running for the presidency under the platform of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in the 2027 election.
