The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that 116,745 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) belonging to newly registered voters in Lagos State have yet to be collected. Mrs. Adenike Tadese, the Administrative Secretary of INEC in Lagos, made this revelation during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria.
Tadese noted that a total of 177,295 PVCs were received for eligible residents registered during Phase One of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise in 2025. According to the latest weekly update from the commission, only 60,550 PVCs have been collected by their owners, leaving over 116,000 cards unclaimed.
This uncollected number reflects a considerable portion of eligible voters who are encouraged to retrieve their PVCs in order to participate in the upcoming 2027 general elections. The PVCs are available for collection at various local government offices throughout Lagos State. Tadese emphasized that holders must collect their cards personally, as collection by proxy is not permitted.
She urged stakeholders to assist in mobilizing both the old registrants who have not yet collected their cards and those who participated in the 2025 CVR exercise. Additionally, she noted that PVCs for those who registered during the 2026 CVR exercise will soon be ready for collection.
Tadese called for maintaining order during the PVC collection process and reaffirmed INEC’s commitment to conducting free, fair, and credible elections. She also appealed to political actors and stakeholders to adhere to the rules guiding the electoral process, promoting a peaceful atmosphere leading up to the elections.
