The Joint Task Force North West, under Operation FANSAN YAMMA, has successfully apprehended a suspected terrorist in Kaduna State while ramping up military operations in Zamfara State. The arrest took place at a hospital in Kagarko town on November 5, 2026, where the suspect sought treatment for a gunshot wound, which was allegedly sustained during a confrontation with a rival group.
According to the Acting Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Captain Tamuno Sinivie, the arrest resulted from an intelligence-led operation conducted by troops in coordination with the Department of State Services (DSS). Initial investigations suggest the suspect has a history of involvement in community attacks, kidnappings, and cattle rustling.
In Zamfara State, military efforts have intensified, particularly in Maradun Local Government Area, targeting terrorist strongholds in Aljummu Hausa, Aljummu Fulani, and Tunga Magaji villages. These operations have reportedly led to the elimination of several hideouts, enhancing security in the surrounding communities.
Additionally, the Nigerian Air Force executed air interdiction missions on November 5 against suspected terrorist locations in Babban Doka and Kuyumbana Forest within Maru Local Government Area, following intelligence that indicated the gathering of terrorists linked to a known kingpin planning further criminal activities.
Operation FANSAN YAMMA reaffirmed its dedication to ongoing efforts against terrorism and other criminal activities. The military also called on the public to assist by providing timely and reliable information to bolster security initiatives aimed at safeguarding lives and property.
