Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has embarked on a campaign tour across the state’s 68 Development Centres, launching several projects aimed at advancing local development. This initiative commenced on Friday with visits to the Aninri West and Aninri North Development Centres within the Aninri Local Government Area.
Mbah highlighted the importance of an inclusive development strategy while speaking at the commissioning of the Amorji, Uhueze, and Agbada Nenwe campuses of the Smart Green School. He also visited and commissioned Type 2 Primary Healthcare Centres at Agbada Nenwe and Amorji, Nenwe.
The governor engaged with residents during consultations in both development centres, gathering feedback on government initiatives and addressing community needs. He emphasized the goal of his administration to demonstrate tangible results rather than mere promises.
Mbah articulated his commitment to educational reform, stating that the Smart Green Schools are designed to equip children for the global economy. He asserted that investment in education is crucial for national development and poverty reduction.
In terms of healthcare, the governor announced that 260 Type 2 Primary Healthcare Centres would be established in each of the electoral wards in the state. He noted that while some of these facilities were already operational, others were in the process of onboarding staff to ensure effective service delivery.
Additionally, Mbah pledged to enhance road infrastructure, with a target of constructing 10,000 kilometers by 2031. He mentioned that 1,521 kilometers have already been completed, with plans to increase road construction efforts in the near future.
Addressing agricultural development, the governor announced initiatives to transition local farmers to mechanised methods and provide them with resources to improve productivity. He confirmed plans to complete road construction from Nomeh to Oduma by the end of the year, which was delayed due to adverse weather conditions.
During his engagements, Mbah encouraged community members to support him and APC candidates in the upcoming elections, emphasizing the need for participation in the electoral process.
In response, Hon. Ugochukwu Nwanjoku, the Chairman of Aninri Local Government Area, expressed appreciation for the governor’s efforts in ensuring equitable development throughout the area. He assured Mbah of the community’s support in the 2027 elections.
