A Lagos resident has publicly expressed frustration regarding ongoing noise disturbances from a church in his neighborhood. In a plea directed at Tokunbo Wahab, the Lagos State Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, the individual highlighted the issue on social media, sharing a video that captured a loud praise session occurring at approximately 1:31 AM.
The resident mentioned the inability to sleep due to the loud music being amplified through external megaphones, indicating that the situation seemed to be escalating. The individual also offered to provide specific details privately for security reasons.
In response to the resident’s complaint, Commissioner Wahab acted promptly by instructing the General Manager of the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) to investigate the matter and take appropriate action. This intervention aligns with the state government’s current enforcement initiatives aimed at addressing environmental noise violations, which have included the closure of various religious institutions and businesses.
