Nigeria’s U-17 women’s football team, known as the Flamingos, is set to compete against Japan in the final of the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup. The match will take place tonight at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Rabat, Morocco.
Coached by Akeem Busari, the Flamingos are striving for their first title in this competition, which would mark a historic achievement not only for Nigeria but also for the continent.
The Nigerian team made headlines by defeating Brazil 3-1 in the semi-finals, ensuring at least a silver medal and surpassing their previous best finish, which was third place in 2022. As both teams aim for their inaugural title, Japan poses a significant challenge to the Flamingos’ aspirations.
