President Bola Tinubu addressed supporters at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, where he underscored the significance of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) in the fight against poverty. He described the PVC as a crucial tool for Nigerian citizens to influence progressive development in the economy through their votes.
During the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign rally on Saturday, Tinubu called on individuals who have not yet collected their PVCs to do so, reinforcing its role in facilitating change. He stated that citizens possess the ‘weapon’ to combat poverty at the ballot box by supporting policies that promote economic advancement.
Tinubu specifically addressed the youth, highlighting that the forthcoming 2027 elections will significantly impact their future. He stressed their responsibility in the electoral process, stating that the progress of the nation depends on their engagement in the elections.
The rally followed another APC event in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, where Governor Umo Eno had pledged support for the President in the upcoming elections. Tinubu approved the establishment of the Ibom Deep Sea Port, which he indicated would serve as a developmental catalyst for the state and the South-South region.
The gathering in Rivers State saw participation from various party leaders and supporters from across the South-South geopolitical zone, including Vice President Kashim Shettima and Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, among others.
