Hon. Sunday Falae, the senatorial candidate for the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Ondo Central, has called on voters in Ondo State to resist the temptation of vote-buying and to cast their votes based on their conscience during the upcoming 2027 general elections.
Speaking in an interview in Akure, Falae expressed confidence that financial incentives would not sway voter decisions, noting a prevalent dissatisfaction among Nigerians regarding the current state of affairs and a collective desire for change. “They can bring all the money they want, it is not going to work,” he asserted, highlighting ongoing public anger, particularly referencing recent political developments in Osun.
Falae introduced the concept of a “Rainbow Coalition,” where voters choose candidates from various political parties for different positions rather than adhering to a single-party line. He illustrated this trend with an example of a constituent who planned to support candidates from multiple parties in the elections.
On the pressing issue of public fund management, Falae criticized the accountability of state governors and their failure to translate increased allocations into tangible development. He pointed specifically to the Owena-Alade-Idanre road project that, despite being awarded and paid for, remains unconstructed. “The amount of money they are getting does not correspond to the development we are seeing,” he remarked.
He emphasized the need for accountability not only from the Federal Government but also from state governors and local government leaders, alluding to the importance of transparency in the management of public resources.
Addressing the broader political landscape, Falae argued that the South-West should complete its eight-year presidential tenure, positioning President Bola Tinubu against Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, whom he supports as the APM presidential candidate. He also stated his rationale for joining APM, which was partly influenced by his preference for Makinde’s leadership style and the development achievements in Oyo State.
Falae, who previously belonged to the APC until April 2026, expressed his motivation for contesting the Ondo Central senatorial seat, citing a sense of inadequate representation over the last four years. He asserted that constituents feel neglected and highlighted a recurring sentiment among voters about the lack of effective leadership from the current representative.
