Farmers in Zimbabwe are gearing up for the arrival of El Niño, which is predicted to bring severe drought conditions and extreme temperatures to southern Africa.
Dudzai Matsapa, a farmer based in Nyanga, located east of Harare, is undertaking significant preparations for this climate phenomenon. Working in intense sunlight, he is creating small, shallow pits across his fields, which he plans to fill with organic manure. This method is aimed at enhancing soil moisture retention as he awaits the rainy season.
