The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State held a significant rally in Ilorin, intended to garner support for President Bola Tinubu, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, and the party’s governorship aspirant, Salihu Yakubu-Danladi. This event, which was organized as a 20,000-man march, drew party members and supporters from surrounding local government areas including Ilorin West, Ilorin East, Ilorin South, Asa, and Moro.
The rally was coordinated by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Political Matters, Suleiman Sai Kayi, who emphasized the event’s purpose: to showcase backing for APC’s leadership and its candidates ahead of the upcoming 2026 elections. The procession commenced at the Kwara State University Teaching Hospital Roundabout and continued through key streets in Ilorin, where participants donned party colors and sang solidarity songs.
Supporters were seen in APC-branded apparel, displaying slogans such as ‘My Vote is for APC’ and ‘Iwaju LaNlo’ as they celebrated and marched in the state capital. In a statement to the press, Sai Kayi expressed gratitude for Governor AbdulRazaq’s achievements, particularly highlighting infrastructure progress, education enhancements, and the welfare of workers and pensioners. He characterized Yakubu-Danladi’s candidacy as a move towards continuity based on fairness and justice.
Sai Kayi noted that youth participation was significant at the rally, reflecting the administration’s impact on this demographic through various initiatives. He also affirmed the APC’s commitment to maintaining the current developmental trajectory, underscoring Yakubu-Danladi’s integral role in the successes attributed to the AbdulRazaq administration since 2019.
Additionally, Sa’adu Salahu, a Senior Adviser and Counsellor to the Governor, urged voters to evaluate political candidates based on their past contributions rather than the narratives from opposition campaigns. He asserted that the administration’s focus on community-focused programs and infrastructure would resonate positively with voters during elections.
Salahu highlighted that Governor AbdulRazaq had cultivated an environment discouraging political violence, setting it apart from previous administrations. He expressed confidence in the APC’s victory in the 2027 elections and called for continued peaceful mobilization and targeted campaigning.
Abdulrazaq Jiddah, the Director-General of the APC Campaign Council (Central), praised the turnout and encouraged eligible voters to collect their Permanent Voter Cards ahead of the elections. He expressed that the rally demonstrated growing support for the APC’s agenda.
Various politicians attended the event, including Sa’adat Yakubu-Danladi, candidate for governor, and other notable APC members and supporters who reinforced the party’s agenda of fairness and political equity, particularly in reference to the allotment of the governorship ticket.
