Head Coach Èric Chelle has unveiled a squad of 23 players as Nigeria prepares for crucial U23 AFCON qualifying matches against the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Among the selected players are goalkeeper Michael Atata, midfielder Daniel Daga, and junior international Abdulmuiz Adeleke. Atata, who has received multiple call-ups to the Super Eagles, will compete for the starting position with Samuel James from SJK FC and Clinton Andy.
Nigeria aims to secure a spot in the AFCON finals, which are set to take place in Egypt next year. The finals will determine Africa’s representatives for the 2028 Olympics Men’s Football Tournament.
The roster features a mix of local and international talent, including defenders Victory Akpe, Vince Osuji, and Emmanuel Ochobi, midfielders Chibuzor Nwoko and Aderemi Adeoye, and forwards Peter Edokpolor, Zadok Yohanna, and Umar Abubakar.
Seven players who compete in the Nigerian leagues are scheduled to depart for Lubumbashi on Tuesday, ahead of the first leg of their fixture at Stade TP Mazembe. This match is set for Friday, with the return leg occurring at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne-Remo on the following Tuesday.
