Nelson Mandela, the 95-year-old globally acclaimed statesman and South Africa’s first democratically-elected President, has died a few minutes ago, following a year of intense medical attention and illness. Two days ago, on December 3, one of Mr. Mandela’s daughters, Makaziwe told the South African Broadcasting Corporation indicated the great man was on his “deathbed.” She commended her father for “still teaching us less
ons; lessons in patience, lessons in love, lessons in tolerance. Every moment, every minute with Tata amazes me. There are times when I have to pinch myself that I come from this man who is so strong, who is a fighter, even when there are moments when he, you can see he is very strongly struggling, but the fighting spirit is still there with him.”
It is the end of an era for South Africa, and the world.
Dr. Mandela was born at Qunu, near Umtata, in the Transkei area of South Africa on July 18, 1918, to Chief Henry Mandela, a member of the Tembu ethnic group.
His legacy is one of grace, immortality and empowerment — as he left footprints of greatness. Goodbye Mandela; Long Live Mandela.

I want to thank Chido Nwangwu for publishing my Open Letter to Nelson Mandela, as a contributing editor of the USAfricaonline.com. The program that I suggested in that letter will someday be fully implemented and dedicated to the great son of Africa.
As the world mourns the death of Nelson Mandela I am reminded – stripped of the life-giving Spirit breathed into us by God, our bodies return to dust. “Then the dust will return to the earth as it was, and the spirit will return to God who gave it.” (Ecclesiastes 12:7) Stripped of God's purpose, our work is in vain. One life to live and only what is done for Christ will last. Stripped of God's love, our service is futile. We must put God first over all we do and in all we do because without Him we have nothing. Knowing that life is futile without God motivates the wise person to seek God first. Opinions about life and philosophies about how we should live could be read and studied forever. It is not wrong to study these opinions, but because our life on earth is so short, we should make the best use of time by learning the important truths in God's Word. They affect this life and eternity. Wise students of the Bible will understand and do what it says. “But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope.” (1 Thessalonians 4:13)
