A senior financial operator for Boko Haram’s affiliate, Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), has surrendered to military forces in Borno State, accompanied by his two male children. The surrender took place on July 25, 2026, around 6:45 AM along the Ladari–Jegarawa–Tunokalia axis.
According to a press release from Captain Mohammed Goni, the Acting Media Information Officer for the Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI, the surrendered individual was responsible for managing financial activities and logistics for the terror group. His decision to surrender follows a series of coordinated military offensives targeting ISWAP strongholds.
The operations have led to a surge in surrenders, with approximately 46 terrorists and their families voluntarily laying down their arms in recent days. Items recovered from the surrendered financial operator include an AK-47 rifle, four magazines, and ₦40,000.
This significant development underscores the mounting pressure on ISWAP and reflects the diminishing stability of its command structure. The military aims to exploit actionable intelligence gathered from the surrender to further disrupt remaining terrorist elements in the region.
Operation HADIN KAI continues its mission to restore peace and security in the North East, encouraging other remaining terrorists to surrender and take advantage of the Federal Government’s non-kinetic initiatives.
