Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has expressed confidence in a large turnout of supporters during President Bola Tinubu’s scheduled visit to the state on Saturday. Fubara made this assurance during a meeting with Philip Shaibu, Director of the Directorate of Support Groups and former Deputy Governor of Edo State, who was leading a team of local support groups in a pre-rally mobilization effort in Port Harcourt.
The governor emphasized that the mobilization serves as a significant initiative to build excitement ahead of the presidential campaign rally, indicating that the turnout will reflect the level of support for President Tinubu. He noted that the restoration of peace in Rivers State has fostered an environment conducive to political engagement.
Furthermore, Fubara pointed out that campaign coordination in the state is being overseen by Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory. He described the mobilization as a collaborative endeavor that is already showing positive results, assuring the delegation that foundational work will continue leading up to the rally.
Earlier, Shaibu mentioned that similar pre-rally road walks have taken place in five other states as part of the preparation for Tinubu’s campaign activities. He stated that the goal of these activities is to energize local residents and build enthusiasm prior to the President’s arrival, with the focus in Rivers State being on indigenous support groups in Port Harcourt. Shaibu also highlighted the benefits Rivers State has seen from the goodwill of the Tinubu administration, expressing optimism that these support groups will effectively mobilize local residents for a successful campaign rally.
