The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, along with his vice-presidential running mate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, is currently in Lagos for a series of engagements aimed at mobilising support for the party. This visit includes a town hall meeting with local stakeholders.
During the outreach activities, Kwankwaso visited the bustling Kantangua Market in Alimosho, where he interacted with traders and local groups involved in the party’s grassroots mobilization efforts. A viral video from the visit captured a significant crowd gathering around him, chanting the names of both candidates.
This trip comes shortly after a security concern was reported in Calabar, Cross River State, where Obi’s convoy was allegedly attacked during an NDC town hall meeting. Obi condemned the incident, which took place near prominent local venues including the U.J. Esuene Stadium.
Despite the challenges, Obi and his party remain committed to their campaign activities. Prior to visiting Lagos, Obi paid respects to his late friend, Chief Okey Ezeibe, at a memorial service held in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, accompanied by the NDC’s governorship candidate for Lagos State, Funso Doherty.
