President Bola Tinubu has announced plans to spend the night in Akwa Ibom State, describing this visit as a “second term presidential sleep” due to his confidence in winning re-election in 2027. This declaration was made during a reception and rally held in his honor at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.
In his address to supporters, Tinubu expressed gratitude to the people of Akwa Ibom for their backing and urged eligible voters to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) in preparation for the upcoming general election. He emphasized the importance of voting, stating that the PVC is a crucial tool for voters.
The President reiterated his administration’s commitment to enhancing living conditions, developing infrastructure, improving education, and fostering job creation and skills acquisition. He assured the audience of his dedication to delivering on these promises as part of his vision for a better future.
This announcement occurs amid criticisms from Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), who questioned Tinubu’s travel patterns across the country, suggesting that he had not spent the night in states beyond Abuja and Lagos. Tinubu’s night stay in Akwa Ibom appears to be a response to ongoing political rivalry as activities ramp up in the lead-up to the 2027 elections.
