President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has launched a critique of National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate Peter Obi, questioning his leadership capabilities. Addressing supporters at a political rally in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Tinubu referenced Obi’s time as governor of Anambra State, contrasting it with his own record as the governor of Lagos State.
During his speech, Tinubu remarked on Obi’s failure to address challenges such as erosion while he was in office, stating, “In Anambra State, he could not confront erosion. I, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, confronted the Atlantic Ocean.” This statement served as an indication of what Tinubu considers a lack of effective leadership character.
Furthermore, the President expressed doubts about Obi’s abilities to manage his political party, asking rhetorically whether failure to maintain organizational order is indeed a leadership trait. His comments were met with a negative response from the crowd.
Tinubu also urged his supporters to back his administration’s agenda, pledging efforts to eliminate poverty, ignorance, and economic decline. He declared, “We will break the circle of poverty, ignorance and economic regression. We will definitely break it.”
