Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen is scheduled to have arthroscopic knee surgery following a recent injury sustained during Galatasaray’s UEFA Champions League match against VfB Stuttgart. The Turkish club announced on Friday that an MRI scan revealed a strain in Osimhen’s left knee, along with the presence of a loose body.
The surgery will take place on Saturday at Maslak Acıbadem Hospital under the care of the club’s physician, Dr. Yener İnce. Galatasaray’s statement confirmed that the 26-year-old player has been removed from the squad for the next game against Amed S.F.
This injury presents a significant challenge for Nigeria’s national football team, as Osimhen is anticipated to be unavailable for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Tanzania on November 13 and 17. His absence is expected to impact the Super Eagles significantly as they prepare for these crucial international fixtures. While the club has not yet provided a timeline for his recovery, there is hope for a successful procedure and swift healing.
