Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, the Executive Governor of Plateau State, has taken a decisive political step by inaugurating the Tinubu/Shettima and Mutfwang/Piyo Campaign Council. This initiative aims to coordinate support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Mutfwang’s own re-election, and all candidates from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming elections scheduled for January 16 and February 6, 2027.
The inauguration, held on November 2, 2026, gathered prominent figures across Plateau State, including former governors and serving members of various assemblies. Governor Mutfwang will chair the council, supported by other notable members including the National Chairman of the APC, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, and Deputy Governor Ngo Josephine Piyo.
Highlighting the importance of engaging citizens with respect and understanding, Governor Mutfwang emphasized that the campaign should foster honest discussions about governance, security, healthcare, education, and economy, rather than merely focusing on political mobilization.
In his message for the 2027 elections, Mutfwang aims to unify the people under a common political vision while addressing the challenges faced during his administration since May 2023. He acknowledged the support he has received from citizens and encouraged them to continue their partnership for a shared future.
Security and economic development remain top priorities for his administration. Mutfwang has made strides to improve safety through the revitalization of Operation Rainbow and the enhanced community-based security measures. His administration is also focused on strategic investments in healthcare, agriculture, education, and transportation, including affordable public transport options and improved road infrastructure.
The governor noted the visible contribution of federal development projects in Plateau State, including key road constructions aimed at fostering connectivity and economic activity. As the campaign progresses, he reiterated a commitment to building a more prosperous future for Plateau and Nigeria.
