The Council of Retired Federal Permanent Secretaries (CORFEPS) has announced the launch of its new publication, the CORFEPS Journal on Public Policy and Governance. This initiative seeks to deepen the connection between institutional memory and professional knowledge in Nigeria’s civil service.
As a multidisciplinary body comprising former civil servants, CORFEPS aims to contribute significantly to public administration reform efforts, reflecting on the past while engaging with current governance challenges and future aspirations of the civil service.
Under the leadership of Mahmud Yayale Ahmed, the organization emphasizes that the retirement of public servants does not diminish their ability to influence governance reforms. The new journal serves as a platform for retired and current civil service members to exchange insights and ideas.
The inaugural edition features a range of essays addressing key issues in Nigeria’s governance and civil service. It includes segments on leadership, management, health, and development, with contributions from retired permanent secretaries who share their experiences and perspectives.
The journal is divided into eight parts, each tackling relevant topics such as the status of public administration, governance tools, and the significance of infrastructure to national development. This comprehensive approach underscores the journal’s goal of facilitating discussions on administrative challenges and reforms.
Highlighting the importance of professional knowledge, the journal positions itself as a vital resource for civil servants and policymakers. It combines historical reflections and current analyses to promote better governance and administrative practices in Nigeria.
CORFEPS intends for the journal to evolve beyond academic discussions, focusing instead on practical implications for public service and administration. This approach aims to engage a broad audience of public administration professionals while addressing critical governance issues.
