Seyi Makinde, the presidential candidate from the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), has called on Nigerians to accept any financial support from politicians during election campaigns but to vote in alignment with their own conscience. This message was delivered during the flag-off of his presidential campaign in Bauchi as the country approaches the 2027 general elections.
At this event, Makinde underscored the importance of remaining steadfast in one’s electoral choices despite financial inducements. He stated, “When they bring money, it’s your money. Collect it, spend it, but vote your heart, and I know your heart is with us and with APM.”
Additionally, Makinde urged citizens to rally behind a national reset, citing economic hardship, security challenges, and governance exclusion as pressing issues that necessitate fundamental changes. He expressed concern over whether the widespread hunger among Nigerians should not prompt a reevaluation of the country’s economic strategies and the need to reassess the security landscape due to ongoing insecurity.
Highlighting the importance of inclusivity in governance, Makinde called for a socio-political reset, advocating for a government that genuinely addresses public needs with transparency and sincerity. He also acknowledged the support of Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed and the APM’s national chairman, expressing appreciation for their encouragement.
