The U.S. military announced on Friday that it is offering a reward of up to $20 million for information about Iran’s nuclear program. This initiative is part of the State Department’s Rewards for Justice program, which aims to gather information that protects American lives and interests.
The U.S. Central Command stated that the reward applies to information regarding Iran’s nuclear facilities, associated equipment, and personnel, which may include scientists involved in the program. The program was established in 1984 and has been used to incentivize information related to national security.
The U.S. State Department criticized Iran’s non-compliance with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), which has impacted the agency’s ability to monitor Iran’s nuclear activities. Despite this announcement, no specific details were provided regarding the type of information that would qualify for the reward.
During a rally in West Palm Beach, Florida, President Trump remarked on the situation, stating that U.S. military actions had significantly weakened Iran’s nuclear capabilities. He said, “If we didn’t hit Iran, you wouldn’t have Israel today,” crediting U.S. actions for preventing the use of nuclear weapons in the region.
Trump also indicated that Iran is keen to negotiate a resolution to the ongoing conflict, highlighting the detrimental effects of sustained warfare on its economy and military strength. Diplomatic efforts to mediate a resolution are currently underway.
Earlier this week, President Trump mentioned needing to address a few remaining targets, including a site referred to as Pickaxe Mountain in central Iran, which is suspected of housing nuclear capabilities, a claim that Iran has denied.
