Oluwole Aguda, a businessman and former governorship aspirant in Kogi State, has shared insights on President Bola Tinubu’s reform agenda and its implications as Nigeria approaches the 2027 general elections.
In a recent interview, Aguda emphasized that while reforms are crucial, the government must demonstrate tangible benefits to citizens. He pointed out that economic conditions remain challenging for many Nigerians, with high costs of essentials like food, transportation, and healthcare.
Aguda acknowledged the efforts made to stabilize the economy, including the recent ending of fuel subsidies, which he described as a necessary step to curb corruption and reduce the fiscal drain on resources. However, he stressed that the administration’s achievements must translate into improved living standards for the population.
The conversation also touched on the need for the President to secure electoral support, especially in Northern Nigeria. Aguda indicated that voters will evaluate Tinubu’s performance based on improvements in security, economic opportunities, and overall quality of life.
Regarding the ongoing political tension in the Imo State over the senatorial ticket, Aguda remarked on the importance of fair governance and adherence to the constitutional principle of federal character to ensure inclusivity in federal appointments.
With ongoing security challenges from banditry and terrorism affecting various regions, Aguda called for continued investment in infrastructure and community safety. He remarked on significant road development projects in Northern Nigeria but noted that citizens expect visible improvement in their daily lives as a result of these reforms.
Finally, Aguda commented on the political restructuring within parties and the necessity for a strong opposition to promote healthy democratic competition, cautioning against the pitfalls of political realignment based solely on survival instincts.
