Gift Orban has moved ahead of Victor Osimhen in the race for the Turkish Super Lig Golden Boot following his goal in Amedspor’s recent 4-3 defeat to Galatasaray. Despite the loss, Orban’s impressive performance enabled him to reach double figures in goals for the season, registering a second-half header.
Having joined Amedspor on loan this summer, Orban initially struggled for impact before finding his form. He scored his goal by meeting a well-placed cross from substitute Furkan Soyalp, skillfully directing the ball past Galatasaray goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir.
With this latest strike, Orban now boasts 10 goals and five assists in 11 league appearances since the season began in August. His goal not only emphasizes his role in Amedspor’s attacking efforts but also positions him in front of Osimhen in the scoring charts.
Osimhen, who has been unable to compete in this match, recently underwent knee surgery after sustaining an injury during a UEFA Champions League game against Stuttgart. Previously, he had accounted for nine goals and three assists in just eight league matches, making his absence significant for Galatasaray.
Additionally, Amedspor’s Yira Sor also made an impact by scoring after coming off the bench, contributing to the team’s performance despite the overall defeat. His goal came after he capitalized on a rebound, showcasing the strength of Nigerian talent within Amedspor.
