2.1 million new HIV infections occurred in 2013 and on World AIDS day we explore whether an HIV vaccine will ever be possible to stop this rising indefinitely. In 2009, mild success form a trial in Thailand renewed hope and now, in January 2015 a new version will be tested in South Africa, where 19% of the population have HIV. Other vaccines are being designed simultaneously as just 50 percent protection would be enough to make an impact globally. Experts believe we will never fully control HIV without a vaccine. Will we get one?
