The All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed its refusal to accept the results of the recent governorship election held in Osun State, which saw Governor Ademola Adeleke declared the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Oluwole Oke, the Director-General of the APC’s governorship campaign, stated that the party is currently reviewing the election outcomes and will not feel pressured to congratulate Adeleke. This statement was made during an interview with Arise News.
Oke emphasized that the party’s position remains critical, asserting, “We do not agree with the declaration of INEC. We believe he did not score the highest valid votes.” He further noted that a comprehensive review of the election process is underway to assess the situation thoroughly.
The INEC reported that Adeleke, representing Accord, won the election with a total of 511,067 votes, defeating the APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji, who garnered 444,815 votes. The third candidate, Najeem Salaam from the ADC, received 17,180 votes. Adeleke won in 19 local government areas compared to Oyebamiji’s 11, resulting in a victory margin of 66,252 votes.
