The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has announced the Super Eagles’ squad for the crucial Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying matches against Tanzania. The selection, made public on Saturday, includes 24 players with Francis Uzoho returning as a replacement for Maduka Okoye, who has been excluded from the lineup.
Head coach Eric Chelle has also granted midfielder Tochukwu Nnadi his first call-up to the national team. The squad sees the return of players such as Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, Yusuf Alhassan, Samson Tijani, and Suleiman Mubarak. Team captain Wilfred Ndidi retains his position, while notable omissions from the squad include Raphael Onyedika and Frank Onyeka.
The attacking front remains robust, with several players from the previous international window making the cut, including Ademola Lookman and Tolu Arokodare. Other forwards in the squad are Moses Simon, Akor Adams, Moses Usor, and Taiwo Awoniyi.
Nigeria will first host Tanzania in Uyo on November 13, followed by an away match in Dar es Salaam on November 17. The Super Eagles are currently placed three points behind Guinea-Bissau in their group, with only the group winners securing a spot in the upcoming tournament.
