USAfrica: One of Africa’s top basketball teams, Nigeria will take on an overmatched, star-packed USA Men’s Basketball team in a game at the 2012 Olympics this afternoon 5:15pm eastern time (USA). It is scheduled to be shown on

the NBC Sports Network. The US team has maintained a winning record in the London Olympics and they are globally ranked as number 1 while Nigeria is ranked 21st, according to Federation of International Basketball Association (FIBA).

The FIBA’s numbers show that U.S has amassed 852 points with Nigeria holding only 67.6.

The U.S has LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant, Carmelo Anthony etc while Nigeria holds some NBA talents including Al-Farouq Aminu of the Hornets.

Regardless of the stars all over the American team, no one should under-estimate the resolve of the Nigerian team. A key member of the team Ike Diogu, a former top-10 NBA draft pick cautions that “We will not be intimidated by those guys…. A lot of us went to school in the U.S. and have played against those guys. We have no reason to feel overwhelmed.”
Unless a basketball miracle occurs, USAfrica analysts say the U.S team holds the advantage for victory. The greatest Igbo ODUMEGWU OJUKWU’s great farewell in Aba. By Chido Nwangwu   http://usafricaonline.com/2012/02/28/the-greatest-igbo-odumegwu-ojukwu-farewell-in-aba-by-chido-nwangwu

USAfrica: Ikemba ODUMEGWU OJUKWU’s farewell in Aba, today February 28, 2012, reflected a fitting tribute, historically meaningful celebration, proper regard and deserving appreciation of the greatest Igbo, in my opinion, to have ever lived (like him or hate him).

I SALUTE Aba (aka Enyimba city), the robust and fearless town I was born, bred and raised, for giving the Ikemba, our Ochiagha, Gburugburu, Oka oburu uzo, dike na ndu ma n’onwu, mgbadike anyi, a hero’s farewell.

To the Ikemba, may your valiant soul rest in peace and dignity.

We will, and I, Chido Nwangwu, will never forget to continue to tell my generation and the next about your towering courage through tempest and thunder; through sorrow, pain, tears, blood…. •Dr. Chido Nwangwu, Founder & Publisher of USAfrica multimedia networks, first African-owned, U.S-based newspaper published on the internet USAfricaonline.com; and recipient of several journalism and public policy awards, was recently profiled by the CNN International for his pioneering works on multimedia/news/public policy projects for Africans and Americans. http://edition.cnn.com/video/#/video/international/2010/07/29/mpa.african.media.bk.a.cnn.
